Fashion is a world of cycles. Everything has to change, because what is fashion without a new trend alert every couple of months? Be it camel, the rise of the cigarette pants or feathers this season. So it is incredibly refreshing to come across a brand where the focus is not on creating clothing which is trend driven but about creating beautifully crafted pieces which instead seek to redefine wardrobe classics into something both modern and still incredibly reverent of their heritage.
Co founder of the Charles Anastase brand in 2004 and winner of the ANDAM prize, Olivier Borde set up his eponymous label in 2008, garnering a plethora of acclaims from within the industry including top new designer accolades from Vogue Italia. The label recently added a capsule womenswear collection to it’s repertoire. The results were frankly beautiful.
Redolent of the sunshine and laid back glamour of La Dolce Vita Rome. Borde for SS11 presented us with denim jackets with leather sleeves and shorts with ram rod straight creases for the guys and high waisted mini skirts and ‘ship to shore’ inspired jackets for the girls. Clean, chic and instantly desirable wardrobe must haves, Borde is definitely a designer worth watching out for.
So what makes the men behind the label; Olivier Borde and Heath Callender (co founders and creative directors) tick? They very kindly agreed to answer some questions for us, so sit back and get better acquainted with the men behind what is sure to become a brand that is really going to go places.
